What Now?
I decided to postpone the second post. However, this experience has created some thinking on my part. Now for that thinking:
Ultimately, there are few behaviors that are needed, or increased, in Smithfield.
- Fiscal Discipline: Only spend money that you have to spend. Fiscal strength is a superpower.
- The Real Work: While being available in public is a great community builder, leadership is more than ribbon cutting and walking around at public events. The real work of leaders is in the "details".
- Focus on ALL Solutions: Clean up your own house before you criticize others.
- Leadership Discipline: Refrain from rhetoric. Focus on facts and objective data. Many leaders seem to be fearful of objective data. Why?
- Teamwork: Get along for the better good of Smithfield ... its residents, businesses, families and children.
I appreciate those people that read my posts. Civil discussion is important in our society and the Town.
