Town of Smithfield RI — Blog Discussion

Mission

This website has been designed to discuss issues associated with the Town of Smithfield in order to cultivate an effective, transparent and efficient government operation for its taxpayers and residents.

Purpose

Blog posts are provided to inform the public of current topics, initiatives and pending decisions by the Town of Smithfield and Smithfield Public Schools.

Keep active and be informed about the decisions and policies that are approved and implemented by your govermnent departments, public school system as well as boards/commissions.

We often think of government as the elected leaders.  Many of the policies, analysis, and implementation details are left to civil service employees and educational administrators.  Each of these employees are not selected or elected by taxpayers.  However, they have the fidiciary and legal responsibility to act lawfully and morally.

We need to ensure that these policies, procedures and fiscal policies are implemented in both accordinance with Federal, State and local ordinances as well as voted by the elected governance bodies.

In addition, citizens should follow the recommendations of boards and commissions that are appointed by the Town Council and School Committee.  The analysis and recommendations are important components of governmence.  By the compilation of objective, apolitical and actions that are in the best interests of the Town and School Department ... their taxpayers, residents and visitors.
